Ever watched the movie or read the book Soul Surfer? If not, don’t worry I’ll tell you all about this miracle. It is based on the true story of Bethany Hamilton, a rising surf star who inspired millions of people around the world.

Bethany was only 13 and already destined to have a prestigious future as a professional surfer. But nothing happened as planned. During a surf session in October 2003, Bethany was attacked by a 14-foot tiger shark that bit her arm off.
You might think that this event put an end to a possible career as a professional surfer, but that’s where you are wrong and that’s what made her so famous. The young girl returned in the water only a month after the attack, not just to swim but to continue pursuing her goal: becoming a professional surfer. While many people would have completely given up and lost every ounce of hope, she did not. She remained positive all the way through her recovery, which allowed her to return into competition in January 2004, and won her first National Title only a year later.

Her story inspired millions of people of all age and from all over the world. It might be considered as a miracle by some people, but I believe that she worked for it, she worked more than anyone to get what she wanted and that’s what motivated others to achieve their goals. She showed the world that you could be capable of everything and anything if you really want it.
All her work paid off as she was ranked in the 20 best surfer in the World in 2010 and recently won the first place in the Surf ‘n’ Sea Pipeline Women’s Pro Competition last year.
She quickly became an icon of faith, determination and hope, and advocates healthy living on a daily basis. With that in mind, she recently came back on the news as a six months pregnant woman who continues to surf.

However, we are far from future mothers’ diets to gain as little weight as possible during the pregnancy. She keeps her health in mind and believes that a remaining fit is important in the process of giving birth to her first child. This way of thinking continues to inspire the world and she is not ready to stop yet.
For example she is also involved in the humanitarian organisation World Vision that work to help children. She personally decided to focus on disabled children around the world, and she has already raised $25,000 for the Children in Crisis program through her surfing competitions.
