“People suffering from hunger don’t often make the front page” – that was before Zlatan got involved

To defend a world issue, celebrities and icons wear t-shirts or give a speech. Not Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Football star tattooed the name of 50 people on his body. Not just 50 random names; no, these are the names of a few people around the world suffering from hunger.
To show his commitment and to draw attention on the issue, the Paris Saint Germain football icon took off his shirt and unveiled his new set of temporary tattoos. The significance of those? He wrote on his Facebook “People I never met but still want to keep close”. Indeed, these people are from all around the world, but they all have one thing in common: all of them suffer from hunger.
Actually, Zlatan isn’t only a football star or the captain of the Swedish national football team; he is also the ambassador of the World Food Program, a campaign by the United Nations. The purpose of this program: fight against the worldwide issue that is hunger.
On their website we can read “Hunger and malnutrition are the number one risk to health worldwide — greater than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined. Today there are 805 million undernourished people in the world. That means one in nine people do not get enough food to be healthy and lead an active life.”
If we know Ibrahimovic for his sport performances, he is also famous for never doing thing by half. This time again he stayed true to himself. Shooting a video? Not enough. Sharing it on social medias? Not enough. What is enough: covering his body with the names of these people and exposing them to the public of the game at Parc des Princes as well as to the cameras filming the match. He said, “So whenever you hear my name, you’ll think of their names. Whenever you see me, you’ll see them”.
The choice of Ibrahimovic for this issue was great and already hundreads of coverage worldwide have been made on the subject. His message and speech behind all of that is even greater and, despite some people who are finding it hard to believe in his sincerity, it affected the public with already more than 2 million views on the video in less than 2 days (17.02.2015).
Zlatan’s good deed cost his team a yellow card, and regardless of what Laurent Blanc, the PSG trainer said (“it was very successful for him and for the foundation. But it still cost us a yellow card”), the player said “ I would even take a red card to help them because there are other problems bigger than my yellow card or my red card.” He also added during the conference that “Remember these tattoos were only 50 names, we are talking about 805 million.”
